OK so perhaps the volume slider could still be kept on the screen and the notifications below it could be scrollable. This would quite neatly solve the issue.

Great ideas! I especially like the Unlock Screen idea although I wonder if the constant agenda updates throughout the day would affect the battery life much.

So how do I change the volume when I’m listening to a song in maximum loudness and suddenly someone enters my room? There’s no alternative to todays homescreen except building physical buttons.

You haven’t yet? Best thing I’ve done in a long time. Winterboard and Status notifier can be used to develop a splash screen which looks and acts exactly like the design you came up with, and all using HTML and Javascript! Plus there’s the whole change the wallpaper and icons thing.
