GoSquared turns 20

Coming soon: our biggest updates in years.
20 years of GoSquared

Today marks a huge milestone — GoSquared is 20 years old.

Just two short decades ago we set out on a journey without knowing where it might lead.

We knew we wanted to build nice things for nice people, on the internet.

Today, I am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved, and genuinely more excited than ever about what’s next.

If you’re curious about how a software business can exist for 20 years, here’s our timeline from 3rd February 2006 through to today.

Preview of the GoSquared timeline

What have we been up to?

A few years ago, we simplified GoSquared — back to doing what most people know us for: beautiful, real-time, privacy-focused web analytics.

We split out our email marketing product and created EcoSend — where we’re building the best email marketing tools for charities and purpose-driven organisations.

For as long as we can remember, our goal has been build tools that are simple, elegant, and useful — and today that same spirit continues to drive everything we do.

2006 — the year of Casino Royale, the iPod nano, and the Nintendo Wii

The internet looked very different back in 2006 — no iPhone yet, CSS rounded corners were still a novelty, and “web stats” meant loading up some log files on your PHP server.

Over 20 years, we’ve seen entire technologies rise and fall. We’ve witnessed businesses thrive or fail depending on their reliance on data. And we’ve felt part of internet history as we’ve ridden the wave of advances in cloud computing.

Back in 2009 we launched LiveStats, our first real-time analytics tool — it showed live visitor activity without waiting for batch processing or cumbersome queries. Over the years we’ve added historical reporting, powerful APIs, email reports, integrations, and countless refinements to make analytics feel like magic, not a chore.

But as the digital world has grown, complexity has grown too — and we’ve learned a lot from our customers about what really matters. That’s why, as we celebrate 20 years, we’re as excited about the future as we are proud of the past.

Looking ahead: what’s next for GoSquared?

If you’ve been a customer of GoSquared for some time, we feel you. There are aspects of the platform that you’ve been desperate to see some improvements to for a while. There are things you have been asking for for months.

We use GoSquared every day, and no one feels the pain of current inadequacies like we do.

We’re incredibly excited to say we’ve got some updates in store. In fact, some of our biggest updates in years.

Here’s a peek at what we’re building next.

📱 GoSquared for iOS

We know you want easier access to your insights wherever you are. Soon you’ll be able to access GoSquared analytics right from your iPhone. Real-time data and trends in your pocket, in an app. Not a web app — a real, native app. We’ve wanted this since day one, and we finally have something we’re getting proud enough to ship.

🎨 Improved look and feel

We’re working on an updated user experience across GoSquared — a more serene and clean interface, more intuitive navigation, and faster workflows, so you can focus on insights without any distractions.

🔄 Many more updates

From faster performance and more robust foundations, to smarter reports and new ways to visualise your data, there’s a lot in the pipeline that we can’t wait to share. To start with, as a little taster, we’ve given a little love to our homepage, and simplified our signup pages so they’re less laborious to fill out.

Thank you

As always, this milestone isn’t just about years — it’s about our community of customers, partners, and supporters who’ve been on this journey with us.

Thank you for continuing to believe in us, telling us what you think, and for using GoSquared.

Here’s to 20 years of building great software, and to the next chapter…

We’re (still) just getting started.
